Physical & Chemical Property		Appearance: white crystalline solid  Molecular Formula: C8H16O4 Structural Formula:    Molecular Weight: 176.21 Solubility: insoluble in water, insoluble in acetic acid;  soluble in hot carbon disulfide, soluble to 1.8 g/100 ml  in ethyl alcohol at 70 degrees C, fully soluble in benzene  and chloroform, but only slightly soluble in ethanol and  diethyl ether. Melting Point: 190-196ºC Boiling Point: sublimes at 110-120 degrees ºC Flash Point: 97 degrees F (36 degrees C)
Application		Metaldehyde is applied as a molluscicide bait for controlling slugs and snails in a very wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops, and by members of the public to control slugs and snails in their gardens and allotments.
